Yoga is not as scary as it sounds. You'll be making some shapes with your body and breathing a little differently. We'll start with a grounding exercise, usually to notice the breath, before warming up the body. Then we'll move through sun salutations, standing poses around the warrior sequence before taking some poses on the mat. We always end in savasana or seated meditation if you prefer. The aim is to cultivate your mind-body connection and leave the mat a little bit more aware of your words, thoughts and actions. You can watch this video to see an example of what a class might feel like.

All of my classes state the level. Usually I would recommend to get the most from your practise to start with a beginner's class. I am not currently teaching a beginner's class but I can recommend some other teachers for you.

Yes, absolutely. Yoga is sometimes seen as something done by "bendy wendy women" but I have lots of people come to my classes, male and female, all ages from 18-75, different levels of strength and flexibility and more. Some of my students are starting out as beginners, some have been practising for years and some have been recommended to start yoga due to an injury or medical condition. Whether you fit in one of those buckets or not, come along!

There is no upper age limit, as long as you feel able to practise safely then you are always welcome. On the lower age limit, for insurance purposes, I require all students to be at least 16 years old. If you are 16 or 17, then I also require written consent from a parent or legal guardian. Please email me if this is the case. In addition, I believe it's important to be trained to type of students in front of you and as I've only trained to teach adults, I would recommend for children younger than 16 years old, that they go to a kids yoga class or a family class.

It depends on the venue and the type of class. Most classes are with 8-12 people but for my 90 minute specials this can be more like 15-20.

Yes absolutely, in fact research shows if we start a new habit with someone else, we're more likely to continue and keep the habit going.

A mat, a bottle of water are essential. If you have your own props you like to use (blocks, straps, blankets) then please bring them. If not, I have lots of spares which I lend out. These are not essential and all poses can be easily modified without the use of props.

It depends on the class, (e.g. one-to-one, corporate classes, community classes etc). See my class schedule for more details on the type of class for the duration and cost. You can also get in touch if you want to ask for a specific class.

Most often, I play music as it is beneficial to change the frequency of sound to stimulate or calm the mind and body. Some of my students have hearing difficulties so they tend to go nearer the front and I turn the music down a bit quieter. If you have any concerns, drop me an email. You can find examples of my playlists on Spotify

If you are a beginner and just want to get started, I suggest Decathlon. If you're looking for a new mat or something that will last longer, Yoga Matters are a great choice as many of their mats are made from eco friendly materials. If you sign up to their mailing list, you can get 10% off. Note, I do not receive any commission from these recommendations.
